April 10, 2024 – Hooded Horse is excited to confirm that Norland, Long Jaunt’s medieval sim and story generator, will release on PC via Steam Early Access on May 16, 2024.
The news was revealed during the Triple-i Initiative showcase. Norland challenges players to manage an up-and-coming noble family, navigating them through the trials of a class-based society. Whether it's treachery and personal feuds, spectacular battles with neighboring kingdoms or roving hordes, or dealing in complicated matters of diplomacy, there are plenty of hazards to navigate in Norland’s fictionalized medieval world.
Norland has successfully captured the imagination of players since its announcement in 2022, gaining over 50,000 wishlists alone during its Next Fest run back in June 2023, and is comfortably sitting on over 350,000 wishlists as it heads towards the EA launch period.
Key features of Norland include:
- Control a noble family and witness how members build complex relationships between themselves through love, hatred, friendship, envy, jealousy, betrayal, and a lust for power.
- Punish criminals, take care of citizens, and put down riots during your reign.
- Build armies and defenses and navigate regional politics by deciding whether to fight or ally with other kingdoms.
- Oversee power struggles, plot intrigue, and secretly assassinate dangerous enemies.
- Absorb knowledge and technology from books, rewrite them, or create entirely new works.
- Build production chains, grow your population, establish prices and wages, and trade with incoming caravans.
- Experience different starting conditions for a unique gaming experience in every session.
Norland will be localized from English into German, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
