Cairn: Mathair’s Curse - A heartfelt Scottish JRPG releases free demo!

Dundee, Scotland – 15th June 2024 – Cairn: Mathair’s Curse, a Scottish story-driven JRPG, has launched a free demo on Steam after 4 years of development from solo-developer Ross McRitchie.

About

Cairn: Mathair’s Curse is a turn-based JRPG about a boy and his mother, in a story that explores love, grief and family. When a mysterious cult unleashes an ancient curse on their home, Alex and his friends must leave on an adventure - defeating wacky enemies, solving puzzles and meeting new friends along the way!

The game is based on Ross’s life experience with family and loss and dedicated to his mother and grandmother. The fictional world of Albaness reflects growing up in the Scottish Highlands in the early 2000s, with plenty of Scottish humour included in its characters and story.

The demo features the first chapter of the game with a demo exclusive area to give players a taste of the combat later in the game.

Full release of the game is planned for Q3 2024 on Steam for PC.
