Alpharetta, USA - June 20, 2024 - Titan Forge Games has today confirmed the dates for the third Alpha Weekend Event for SMITE 2. Beginning on June 27th, players will once again be able to participate in the development cycle of SMITE 2 and assist with feedback on gameplay and design. With Hecate, Thanatos, and The Morrigan being added to the roster of playable characters for SMITE 2’s Alpha, the design team are following through on their commitment to iterative development, building in feedback from the community.
Hecate was announced during the reveal of SMITE 2 at the SMITE World Championships earlier this year, and she’s undergone several changes thanks to feedback from playtesters. Titan Forge Games has leaned deeper into the themes of transitions and doorways to other dimensions, revamping her ultimate ability to teleport enemies and allies at pivotal moments during the game. A detailed breakdown of Hecate’s new abilities and the design choices that the team implemented based on community feedback was released last week.
Thanatos and The Morrigan join the lineup of SMITE Gods being brought to life in the sequel. Thanatos is the Hand of Death from Greek mythology, with an ultimate ability that enables him to fly above the battleground and instantly eliminate wounded opponents. However, Thanatos’ powers come at a cost, as his abilities consume a percentage of his health instead of mana. The Morrigan, on the other hand, relies on deception to master the fate of her enemies. Celtic lore’s Phantom Queen can conjure duplicates of herself and assume the identity and abilities of other Gods to outwit her opponents.
In addition, three cross-gen skins will be added to the sequel. Mighty Mutt Fenrir, Cosmic Thrawn Hades, and Firefly Sol skins will become available in SMITE 2 for those who own these skins in SMITE and have their SMITE 2 account linked.
