Alpharetta, USA - June 27, 2024 - Titan Forge Games has today launched the third Alpha Weekend Event for SMITE 2, which expands the roster with three new playable Gods: Hecate, Thanatos, and The Morrigan. The upcoming version of the Alpha continues refining SMITE 2 and continues to iterate on the game’s item system. The developers have also announced SMITE 2 will enter its 24/7 Closed Alpha phase on Tuesday, August 27.
Hecate is the first brand-new God in SMITE 2. The goddess has been reworked since her initial reveal thanks to player feedback. Titan Forge Games has leaned deeper into her themes of transitions and doorways to other dimensions, revamping her ultimate ability to teleport enemies and allies at pivotal moments during the game.
Details on Thanatos and The Morrigan had been revealed previously, showing their transition from SMITE to SMITE 2 characters. While both Thanatos and The Morrigan retain their familiar abilities and play styles, they have received significant visual updates thanks to the jump to Unreal Engine 5 and the visual improvements of the sequel.
The developers have also recently shared insights on how the SMITE 2’s backend infrastructure has received huge improvements for a more scalable player experience and shared a new update on environmental art. This weekend will also feature the second SMITE 2 alpha tournament, which eager competitors can learn more about via the SMITE 2 Esports Discord.
For guaranteed access to the closed testing, Founder’s Edition bundles can be purchased on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Epic Games Store. Players can also request to join the playtest via the SMITE 2 Steam page or register their interest for playing on other platforms on the official website.
