Cologne, 26 June 2024: More variety of topics, a new venue and even better networking for guests: the gamescom congress in Cologne on 22 August 2024 presents numerous innovations. While the latest games are the stars at gamescom, the accompanying gamescom congress will demonstrate in a multifaceted way that there is much more to games than just thrilling entertainment. Using current practical examples, the congress will highlight how education, culture, business and science can benefit from the innovative power of games. Lots of new things await participants at the 16th gamescom congress on 22 August 2024 in Cologne. The organisers have developed the congress further for this year's edition and set the course for growth. Admission prices remain unchanged: The trade visitor ticket still costs € 103 (reduced € 38).

New key topics
Renowned speakers from all over the world will present the numerous potentials of games from a wide variety of perspectives in talks, panels and workshops. For the first time, the focus will be on the topics of "Games and Artificial Intelligence" and "Games and Democracy". Two new stages will provide answers to the following questions, for example:
- How can games strengthen our democratic coexistence?
- What contribution do games make to democratic discourse?
- How can fake news and hate speech be curbed with the help of AI?
- What potential does artificial intelligence with games open up for business and society?
The further programme is divided into the subject areas "Science & Education", "Economy & Innovation" and "Society & Culture". Details of the programme will be announced shortly.
New venue
The gamescom congress 2024 will be one of the first events ever to take place in Confex, the new conference centre on the Koelnmesse exhibition grounds. Confex offers state-of-the-art facilities and enables more guests to participate in the congress. Due to limited space, no further growth was possible at the previous venue, Koelnmesse's Congress Centre North. Another advantage: the move to the south-west of the exhibition grounds will noticeably improve connections to the gamescom Business Centre and the Cologne Messe/Deutz train station.
More networking
In line with the broad range of topics, the gamescom congress addresses a wide variety of experts from the fields of education, culture, media, politics, business, science and the games industry. In order to strengthen the exchange between these heterogeneous target groups, new programme formats such as roundtables and speed dating will be introduced this year. The Confex will also contribute to more interaction and better networking, as the event will be concentrated on one floor, Conference Level 2, for the first time. In addition, the gamescom congress will become more digital features to enable participants to connect with other congress guests before and during the event.
