KANSAS — August 14, 2021 — CULTIC, a horror-themed shooter with classic visuals and modern combat developed by Jasozz Games and published by 3D Realms, launches a free demo on PC today. Investigate the horrors of mid-century Northwest America on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in 2022.
When a disgraced detective investigates a cult compound tied to recent kidnappings and ritual murders, he’s only two steps out of his car when he’s attacked and everything goes dark. After he’s dragged and left in a mass grave, an otherworldly echo rips through the surrounding woods, and something wrestles for control of his mind and body. Now he rises, wounds still fresh yet unbleeding, determined to get revenge and stop the cult.
Charge forth into a shooter built with sprites and voxels evocative of the ‘90s but enhanced with modern kinetic, juicy combat. Each skirmish with the hatchet-wielding cultists hiding around every corner can lead to a quick, bloody end. Wield mid-century firearms, including handguns, submachine guns, and sawed-off coach guns, STEN Submachine Guns and Sawed-Off Coach Guns, or light some TNT to gib oncoming attackers.
CULTIC’s more thoughtful pace adds horror to the action, but not by limiting player mobility or offensive capabilities. Conserve ammo by getting creative with powerful kicks, or gain the upper hand by dashing, sliding, and throwing objects for deadly improvisation. Hunt down secrets to find destructive armaments for a better chance at fighting off the cult and other twisted beings.
In the full game launching next year, discover the reality-bending secrets of the cult in caves, rotting woods, ancient temples, and even stranger places. Survive untold horrors to a gothic-orchestral soundtrack stitching together the best parts of high-quality samples and MIDI playback. Prevent the end of existence as we know it, one dead cultist at a time.
