Karlstad, Sweden – July 18, 2024 – Clear River Games, a video game publisher specialising in classic and retro games, today unveiled the first gameplay footage from the highly anticipated Gimmick! 2, a sequel fans have been waiting decades for!
Releasing on console and PC in 2024, Gimmick! 2 has been developed by Bitwave Games and continues the escapades of our hero Yokai Yumetaro, made famous in the original SUNSOFT game released in the twilight years of the NES, some three decades ago.
Returning for an all-new epic journey, Gimmick! 2 retains the charming, colour-soaked visuals of the original, but comes fully updated for modern gamers with gorgeous animation, a loveable new characters and secrets at every turn.
Staying true to the challenging gameplay of the original game, Gimmick! 2 presents a firm but fair challenge for platforming fans of all ages, offering an easier mode for those who prefer a more forgiving platforming adventure.
Clear River Games is also thrilled to announce that legendary British composer David Wise will be scoring the soundtrack to Gimmick! 2 when it arrives later this year. No stranger to platforming and retro gaming, David is the man behind some of gaming’s most iconic soundtracks including the Donkey Kong Country series, Battletoads, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, and more! For Gimmick! 2, David has composed completely new melodies as well as remastered old classics. The soundtrack was creatively directed by Pelle Cahndlerby and recorded live in Sweden together with Joel Bille. David has recorded a special announcement, welcoming fans to his new score.
