Seoul - March 21, 2025 - The classic 2D beat-em-up MMORPG Dungeon Fighter Online (DFO) is back with the captivating new ‘Sunken Depths’ update, marking the start of an all-new season. This update introduces a new level cap expansion packed with fresh content, including brand-new equipment and progression systems, as well as various new dungeons to kick off the season.
Dungeon Fighter Online invites players around the world into a thrilling MMORPG experience filled with action-packed raids and explorable dungeons. With lively 2D visuals and classic side-scrolling action, DFO delivers fast-paced gameplay and a wealth of character customization. Set in the fantasy world of Arad, fighters band together to explore expansive landscapes and confront Malefic entities that threaten the safety and harmony of Seon, the First World Under the Sky.

The ‘Sunken Depths’ Update features a variety of action-packed content for both returning players and newcomers, including:

Exciting New Lore: The story picks up after the Seon update, where Adventurers halted the God of Mist’s doomsday prophecy. New dangers emerge as Delezie and the Vanitas threaten the world, forcing the Adventurer to travel to Sunken Depths in search of the Fount of Tribulation, home of the Maleficents. During this journey, players will travel to the Shimmering Archipelago, home of the Death’s Sentinels, a group fighting against the Maleficents; Azure Main, a massive airship controlled by the Maleficents, where corrupted allies must be confronted; and the Moon-Submerged Lake, once home to the Moon Hunters, now plagued by Malefic Beasts. The ultimate goal is to find the long-lost Path to Demise, the gateway to the Maleficents’ domain, known as the Fount of Tribulation, bringing players one step closer to stopping the vengeful Apostle Delezie! Also, the season update will bring Apostle-related lore back to the forefront, linking past and future storylines.

Lv. 115 Equipment & Set Points: Lv. 115 equipment will return to the classic rarity system, where higher rarity items are more powerful! Rarity will also determine the number of Set Points an item possesses, and this Set Point System will serve as the foundation for equipment progression and farming throughout the season. Set Points accumulate as rarer gear is obtained, unlocking bonuses, higher Fame, and special effects. Find better gear, increase your Set Points and take on more powerful foes in the world of Sunken Depths!

Enticing Tuning & Promotion Systems: These two new systems will ensure that set farming rewards players based on the effort they put into farming. Tuning enhances an item within its rarity, increasing Set Points. Tuning enhances an item within its rarity, increasing Set Points, while Promotion upgrades its rarity, helping to prevent 'last item syndrome' in farming. These two systems can be utilized by consuming materials obtained from farming equipment, rewarding players' efforts and ensuring their builds are not solely dependent on RNG.

Thrilling New Dungeons: The ‘Sunken Depths’ update introduces several new dungeons, including six regular dungeons, five Advanced Dungeons, two resource dungeons, one Hell Party dungeon and one monthly dungeon. Find the details of the dungeons below:

Hell Party Dungeon: Disciple of Doom: At the heart of the update is the Disciple of Doom, a revamped Hell Party Dungeon that requires Doom Oracles, which can be earned through Advanced Dungeons or purchased in shops. This dungeon adopts the Expected Reward Ratio (ERR) system, ensuring balanced farming across different content types. Additional quality-of-life features, including automatic re-entry, buff retention and lucky bonuses, make for a smoother and more efficient Hell Party experience.

Abyss: Disciple of Doom – A High-Value Bonus Dungeon: Abyss: Disciple of Doom offers a targeted farming experience. This version limits the equipment pool, making it easier to obtain specific gear sets, with every run guaranteeing at least one Legendary drop to accelerate Set Point progression. Entry requires Abyssal Doom Oracles, primarily obtained from the standard Disciple of Doom dungeon. Although this dungeon can't be entered as frequently as the normal version, the rewards it offers are substantial, so be sure not to miss out on this bonus dungeon once you've gathered enough materials during normal gameplay!

Advanced Dungeons – Weekly Challenges for Growth: Three major Advanced Dungeons—Moon-Submerged Lake, Azure Main and Temple of Death—are introduced, along with two additional dungeons from previous Advanced Dungeons, designed to help newer and returning players catch up. Unlike previous iterations, difficulty settings have been removed and players now progress based on their Fame level. Players can clear two Advanced Dungeons per week for rewards, with progression scaling to offer better rewards at higher levels.

Normal Dungeons: Six Normal Dungeons are also joining the fray, each offering unique mechanics to support less-geared characters. Instead of the ERR system, these dungeons reward Legendary equipment and special items that can yield valuable rewards according to set rates. A new 'Gaze of the Maleficents' system will also select two Normal Dungeons daily, granting bonus rewards—including the equivalent of a Disciple of Doom run for free—though it's limited to 20 characters per account per day. Worried that your characters might be under-geared to take on the new content after a long break or because you are new? No need to fear, as the ‘Gaze of Malefic Energy’ system introduces a built-in damage boost for slower characters. The longer a player takes to defeat a boss, the more damage they deal over time, making daily clears more manageable for alts and less-geared characters!

Gold Dungeons: Two new Gold dungeons have been added below:

Track Malefic Energy: This dungeon provides smaller amounts of gold but offers open and unrestricted access, along with 'Malefic Residue'—a resource usable in enhancement systems as an alternative to Gold!

Annihilate the Maleficents: This dungeon offers a higher Gold payout and tradable item drops, but requires 'Materialized Malefic Clue' tickets to enter. However, these tickets can be obtained through secret shops that appear at the end of various dungeons, ensuring players will come across them occasionally. Once obtained, the tickets can be used to enter the 'Annihilate the Maleficents' dungeon to earn Gold or sold directly in the Auction Hall!
