Press release

Fancy testing a new driving skills game? Join CGA Studios at Steam’s Next Fest festival, 2021, to test your driving ability in a fast-paced ‘Sim City’ style simulation.

Buckle up and check your mirrors! CGA Studios is launching ‘Virtual Driving School’ at Steam Next Fest 2021, Steam Next Fest | June 16-22 (steampowered.com) June 16th - June 22nd.

CGA is launching the earliest demo of Virtual Driving School and is calling for testers and ‘bug busters’ to trial the early access version of the game, on Steam, at the event. CGA’s team is also delivering live game play streams and tutorials at the event and your values your feedback.

Virtual Driving School is a serious, skills-based game that gives players tips on how to become safer drivers, in a hyper-real, virtual environment. Modelled around a ‘Sim City’- style simulated world, you can visit city streets, mountain roads, or scenic highways; there’s 30 different levels to choose from and a wide range of unique driving challenges and scenarios that require precision and concentration. It’s an exciting ride!

Test your skills in the daylight or discover the challenges of night-time driving conditions in poor light. Navigate city-centre rush-hour traffic, whilst observing the rules of the road: staying in the speed limit; understanding traffic lights; and reading road signs. Start the ignition, take your car for a spin and let us know what you think.

CGA Studio MD, Jon Wetherall, explains what’s different about Virtual Driving School, and why you should give it a go: “CGA Studios has been making casual games for platforms like Nintendo Switch, mobile, and PS4 for many years. We’d also started developing AI, machine learning, VR tools, set in gamified city-centre, road network simulations, designed to help teach autonomous vehicle technology to drive safely.

“We’d created a panoply of road hazards, weather conditions, junctions, scenery, and vehicles for these tools and knew there was a really fun, serious driving game to be developed from this work. The range of hazards we created for our VR tool, VR Drive, are now in Virtual Driving School and make it stand out in the market. Developed with input from real driving instructors, Virtual Driving School gives learner drivers real driving guidance as they play the game. The game play itself is fast and fun and combines the best elements of driving games and skills-based online driving instruction.”

Coming soon...
Upcoming new features for Virtual Driving School will include:

  • More vehicles in which to pick your wits against the road. Take your pick from a bus, a taxi, a lorry, or a selection of cars.
  • Virtual Driving School will be launched on Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo Switch.
