SINGAPORE, July 18, 2022 — Global interactive entertainment brand HoYoverse recently surprised fans and players by airing a live show on Bilibili last Friday, which featured its popular virtual character Lumi. The debut stream hit over 500,000 views in under an hour.

Lumi is HoYoverse's first-ever live virtual actress. She has also been actively posting and sharing videos on Bilibili and YouTube since 2020, attracting over 1.5 million subscribers worldwide. In addition to her video content, she also appears as the central character in the live wallpaper app N0va Desktop, which is available for free on Steam, Epic Games Store, and the app's official website. Friday's event was Lumi's first attempt to stage a live stream and make real-time interactions with fans and viewers.
By utilizing Unreal Engine, motion capture, and various technologies, Lumi has been given meticulous detail, from her body, face, and muscle system, to even her skin elasticity and texture. While streaming, her body movement, facial expressions, and voice were generated and rendered in real-time together with all these details, bringing viewers a smooth and natural experience. Wearing a spaghetti strap top and cool shorts, Lumi presented her much-anticipated dances and engaged with her chat via a few interactive games. The stream lasted about 30 minutes, reaching 500,000 views on Bilibili.
After Lumi’s debut Bilibili stream on July 15, HoYoverse has not yet revealed their future plans for Lumi. Developers are still polishing Lumi and her supporting technology, hoping to bring a complete set of technical solutions to more content creators for high-quality and efficient content creation.
