Looking back at a year of 1UP news and launches

Hertfordshire, England - November 20, 2024 | From AAA, GOTY contenders to globally successful indie gems, gaming PR specialist 1UP PR has represented a wide array of titles over the past year. With a flood of new and exciting games having recently been released, it’s all too easy to forget the incredible work of publishers and developers earlier in the year. This round-up will help to shine the spotlight on 1UP PR’s game announcements from 2024, and also provide a taste of what’s to come next year!

Without further ado, here are the games that launched or had major updates this year: 

Yogscast Games:

• Hexguardian (PC) - A cosy hex-based tower defence game that combines Dorframantik with city defence.

• Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers (PC) - A Blackjack-style roguelike set in a seedy tavern. 

• The Holy Gosh Darn (PC and Console) - A comic narrative adventure about the end of Heaven, Hell and everything in between.

• PlateUp! (Console Launch) - A roguelike cooking sim - Yogscast Games biggest PC launch - that moved to console this year.

• Startenders: Intergalactic Bartending (VR)- A cosmic VR bartending simulator that has players whipping up cocktails in space.

• Time to Morp (PC - Early Access) - A farming sim with adorable morps in a colourful world that launched into early access, with a full launch planned in the first half of 2025.

• Tales & Tactics (PC)  - A chaotic roguelike, squad-based autobattler set on a tabletop.

Kakao Games:

• Guardian Tales (Mobile) - A retro Action-Adventure RPG with complex puzzles & reactive action combat.

• Goddess Order  (Mobile) - A mobile 2D side-scrolling action RPG with beautiful pixel graphics.

• Lost Eidolons: Veil of the Witch (PC) - A turn-based RPG/roguelike set on a remote, mystical island.

XD Games:

• Torchlight: Infinite (PC and Mobile) - An ever-evolving aRPG in a beloved franchise, with regular updates and announcements.

• Go Go Muffin (Mobile)  - Creature-collecting, dungeon-crawling, cozy MMORPG.

Maximum Entertainment (including Merge Games):

• Selfloss (PC and Console) - A mythological journey about grief, loss, and healing. 

• Smalland & Smalland VR (PC and Console) - An open world survival game featuring gigantic adventures in a tiny world.

• SunnySide (PC and Console) - The modern day farming sim of your dreams. 

• Morbid: The Lords of Ire (PC and Console)- A dark and twisted Soulslike ARPG.

• Squirrel With A Gun (PC and Console) - A nutty sandbox shooter featuring… a squirrel with a gun.

• Maximum Football (PC and Console) - An American Football MMO that launched into early access, with a full launch planned in the first half of 2025.

Other titles:

• Black Myth: Wukong (PC and Console) - A mythological action RPG, GOTY nominee and one of China’s biggest AAA titles. 

• Vampire Therapist (PC) - Sink your teeth into the woes of the undead in this vampiric virtual novel.

• Valley Peaks (PC) - Climb to new heights in a froggy adventure.

• Earl vs. the Mutants (PC) - Vampire Survivors with a car and a whole lotta bullets.

• Reptilian Rising (PC) - If Churchill fought dinosaurs with Cleopatra and Einstein.

• Kaya’s Prophecy (PC) - A tribal deckbuilding colony with a touch of divine intervention.

• Stray Path (PC)  - A roguelike deck builder with a feline flavour.

• Border Pioneer (PC) - A pixel-art city builder and fortress defender.

Kakao Games:

• God Save Birmingham (PC) - An open-world zombie survival game set in the most terrifying place on Earth - Birmingham, UK.  

• Section 13 (PC) - A thrilling twin-stick sci-fi roguelike with a mystery to unravel.

XD Games:

• Etheria Restart (PC and Mobile) - An upcoming aRPG set in a dystopian post-Earth world.

Maximum Entertainment:

• Spirit of the North 2 (PC and Console) - Use your foxy wits to save the spirit guardians.

• Overthrown (PC and Console) - Overthrowing city builders everywhere.

• Bye Sweet Carole (PC and Console - A chilling narrative-horror game putting a sinister twist on a classic tale.

• ProjektZ (PC and Console) - Atmospheric First-Person Zombie Co-Op-Shooter set in WW2. 

• Pixelshire (PC and Console) - A pixel farming sim with magic, heart and RPG mechanics.

Other titles:

• Project Timi: Sasha’s Curse (PC and Switch) - Jump, hop, and skip your way to saving Lucity Town. 

• No Stone Unturned (PC)  - What really made the chicken cross the road? A murder mystery adventure.

• Legacy: Steel and Sorcery (PC) - A PvPvE epic fantasy adventure.

• The Light, the Dark, the Beating Heart (PC) - Psychological, music-infused platformer.
