Greenville, South Carolina—August 23rd, 2024—Hybrid Fiction Games today announced their first game, Stratagem Lost.
Stratagem Lost is a turn-based strategy RPG and visual novel hybrid with a punk fantasy aesthetic set in a world left broken and paranoid from war. It is a single player indie game currently being developed for PC.

About the Game
The story follows a group of drafted soldiers uncovering a dark mystery as they come to blows with terrorists and otherworldly entities. Gameplay has a focus on unique characters and teambuilding, creating an experience that forces players to make tough decisions in and out of combat.
Compared to other games in the genre, Stratagem Lost’s identity is found in its eclectic, over-the-top attitude. Gameplay is aggressive and dynamic, characters have strong and belligerent personalities — the game as a whole sports an outspoken demeanor, inspired by art movements like dadaism and pop art, as well as music genres like alternative rock and nu metal.
Stratagem Lost features expressionist, vibrant illustrations during cutscenes as well as combat. Battles play out with a punchy style, like they’re snapshots out of a comic book. Characters express themselves firmly, with each pose designed to accentuate personality and individuality.
In the intermissions between battles, the player has access to Off-Time Segments, in which they are able to converse with their allies. Each character has a unique story to tell, offering insight into themselves and the world. Interactions with characters also result in new skills being unlocked! Each Off-Time Segment is a choice, one that connects your tools in combat to your knowledge of your units.
The game features voice acting from professionals in the gaming and animation industries. Some prominent actors include Amanda Hufford (The Amazing Digital Circus, Genshin Impact), Joshua Waters (Fire Emblem Heroes, Unicorn Overlord), and Allanah Fitzgerald (Murder Drones).
The music in the game is composed by dante gofar, known for his work in AD: Trance and UNBEATABLE [white label]. Stratagem Lost boasts a hard rock soundtrack, enhancing the experience with a heavy groove.
The game is listed as “Coming Soon” on Steam, with a demo to be released on October 14th, 2024, alongside massive announcements planned for that day as well.
