[ LISBON, PORTUGAL - May 30th ] ONTOP has announced that DEVIL’S PURGE, the upcoming action shooter extravaganza fused with roguelike mechanics set in the real world, will be in pre-alpha access for the first 666 players.

DEVIL’S PURGE turns you into a real life exorcist. Accept God’s command and embark in a pilgrimage to obliterate all demons in your way until you reach the devil itself. Jesus Christ and the Archangels will come to your aid offering multiple blessings to choose from and customise your holy weapon: your smartphone.
Nuno Folhadela, ONTOP Game Director, expressed his excitement: “Being ONTOP a Portuguese team, the Roman Catholic church and the Baroque art style had a deep impact in our culture and daily life. We used that as inspiration and fused it with the fast action seen in classics such as DOOM and Devil May Cry but with a twist, the action takes place in the real world.”
Through Augmented Reality demons will spawn and move around your environment, demanding you to physically dodge from their attacks and fight back by aiming with your phone and shooting at their weak spots. Open spaces are recommended for movement and extra awareness is needed as demons hide behind walls or turn invisible.
The first 666 players checking out the pre-alpha on May 30th will be battling through the first pilgrimage and its keeper - Virgin Mary, who got corrupted after questioning God’s will. Players that have access to the pre-alpha are invited to join the ONTOP Discord page to share feedback, make part of the development process and get exclusive access for DEVIL’S PURGE updates.
