Game developer Pixelmatic has launched the alpha for Infinite Fleet, allowing early access to the first playable version of the game to its early supporters.

Game development studio Pixelmatic and publisher Exordium today announced the start of the alpha test phase for sci-fi massively multiplayer online (MMO) strategy game Infinite Fleet. Backers of the game will have early access to its first playable version via a periodic raffle system.
Infinite Fleet is an online strategy game where players command fleets of customizable spaceships and play cooperatively to fend off an alien threat, leaving their legacy in the game’s lore via its unique directed narrative feature. The game draws inspiration from space real-time strategy (RTS) and MMO classics like Homeworld and EVE Online, while integrating a crypto asset to power its in-game peer-to-peer economy.
The alpha will allow players an early sneak peek into Infinite Fleet’s game design, strategy elements, open combat, and nostalgic art style that is reminiscent of 80’s anime classics. Feedback received during this stage will be considered for further improvements ahead of Infinite Fleet’s beta launch later this year.
“The launch of our alpha is a big step in the development of Infinite Fleet and we’re excited to see the players in action,” said Pixelmatic CEO and Infinite Fleet creator Samson Mow. “Our early supporters will get to enjoy Infinite Fleet’s unique gaming experience and be directly involved in making the game even better as we move quickly towards its beta.”
The release of Infinite Fleet’s alpha comes just weeks after the game’s publisher Exordium launched its public investment round for select European countries that will grant every participant equity in the company and a share in its future profits. Exordium previously raised $3.1 million in a private seed round, as well as over $1 million in the current round.
Infinite Fleet’s development team is led by veteran AAA game developers that have worked on top-rated franchises such as Age of Empires, Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, Homeworld, and Mass Effect, which have collectively grossed over $1.2 billion globally. Following the release of its alpha, Infinite Fleet’s beta is expected to be released towards the end of the year.
