TURN-BASED STRATEGY GAME ATHENA CRISIS LAUNCHES SEPTEMBER 23 WITH NEW CONTENT

New Campaign, Missions and Much More with 1.0 Release
Get Ready for 1.0 with Steam Deck Verification Available Today

San Francisco, July 30, 2024 – Null Games, the developer-friendly indie publisher of modern retro games, today revealed that turn-based strategy game Athena Crisis will soon launch on Monday, September 23. Buy once, play just about anywhere as purchasing on PC unlocks the ability to play on Windows, Mac, Steam Deck, iOS, and Android with automatic syncing for game states across each platform. The team also revealed that Steam Deck verification is now available in Steam Early Access, bringing the action to the handheld device.

Developed by Nakazawa Tech, Athena Crisis is a modern retro turn-based strategy game that places you in command of dozens of unique units, battling across multiple environments. Alongside a gripping single-player campaign, the game features ranked and casual online multiplayer modes with up to 7 players at once. But in a genre-first twist, the actions within each player’s game world can echo across to other players' experiences, and vice versa - creating a dynamic, interconnected universe.

Athena Crisis also comes with a robust map editor and a campaign editor, ensuring that there is no end of battles to fight and enemies to conquer. The game already contains dozens of user-created maps, puzzles, challenges and full-blown campaigns, with plenty more to come by launch.

Since the game’s early access launch in March, numerous quality of life updates have been added to the game, including a new offline mode. But soon comes the most significant update yet with the 1.0 release, which includes a host of new features and enhancements to its ever-expanding world.

Highlights of the 1.0 release include:

  • The full single-player story campaign, featuring over 30 bespoke maps and missions.

  • Brand-new units, enemies, and skills.

  • Robust choices for user-generated puzzle maps, challenges and full-blown campaigns

Nakazawa Tech has a few more Early Access updates ahead of the 1.0 launch, promising new enhancements for existing players. The Dinosaur Update, available now, includes player achievements on each of the Prequel Campaign maps, improved gamepad support, unit status effects and a host of balancing changes.
