Old World's latest update increases character immersion

March 6, 2024 - Hooded Horse is excited to share the latest developments for Mohawk Games’ historical 4X Old World. Fresh from the recent release of the Wonders & Dynasties DLC, the dev team is back with another quality-of-life feature to help bring the game’s impressive cast of characters to life like never before.



The new portrait interpolation feature for the in-game editor allows characters to age gradually. This replaces the previous set of four fixed portraits, which would switch depending on a character’s age bracket. Now, players can see those gray hairs set in slowly, year by year, turn by turn.

In addition, the new feature supports dynamic facial expressions based on the character’s opinion of the player’s faction leader. Finally, they will be able to show everyone how they truly feel. The new update is available now and comes with the usual round of bug fixes and tweaks. You can read the full patch notes for more details.
