Take a warm winter’s tale to go — Odencat’s Snowman Story releases on Switch 12/12!

Classic title from Meg’s Monster and Bear’s Restaurant developer gets surprise Holiday release.

TOKYO, JAPAN: November 27th, 2024 – Japanese indie developer Odencat announced today that the Nintendo Switch version of its 2019 narrative adventure game Snowman Story will be released on December 12th. The game will be available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop starting November 28th. This beloved tale of a snowman's journey to find an arctic paradise where he can be safe from the coming spring was previously a Google Indie Games Festival 2020 award winner. This version of the game will include the quality-of-life additions found in the previously released Steam version.

In Snowman Story, players take control of a snowman named Chris on a journey to find a fabled land far to the north—a paradise where it is said that his kind may be able to survive their inevitable fate of melting when spring arrives. Along the way, he’ll encounter a whole host of woodland critters who’ll guide him on his way and offer assistance with the game’s icy puzzle stages.   

He’ll also follow in the footsteps of other fallen snowmen, each with their own tragic tale to tell of how they tried and failed to make the very same pilgrimage. By reading memories from their remains and hearing their cautionary tales, Chris just might be able to avoid the same fate.  

This new version retains the charm of the original mobile game, but adds the following new features:

• Controller support and landscape mode: Previously only in portrait mode, Snowman Story has been optimized for consoles. The landscape view allows for a larger, more detailed depiction of the game world. In addition, the game now features full controller support in docked mode as well as touchscreen support in handheld mode.
• Additional voice effects for all characters: Each of the game's characters brings their own unique voice to the story, creating an even more immersive narrative.
• New and improved English translation: The game’s English text has been fully revised to ensure that the spirit of the original script is lovingly preserved, making for a much more entertaining, heartwarming, and emotional experience.

With these new additions, plus all previously released additional content from the mobile version, this cozy Christmas tale is the perfect game to bundle up with this holiday season!
