June 27, 2024 - Hooded Horse’s excellent turn-based strategy game Xenonauts 2 is ready with another major update. Milestone 4 introduces dangerous new threats, fearsome new weapons, and plenty of behind-the-scenes improvements as we approach the tactical game’s one-year anniversary since entering early access.
The aliens deploy their first “large” UFO type to Earth, the Harvester, complete with an array of new maps that can accommodate its size. This big boy will start appearing towards the end of the campaign, coinciding with the appearance of another new enemy – the Androns. Heavy variants of Mentarchs, Servitors, Cyberdrone, and Reapers will also start appearing later in the game.
Players can combat these new threats with new weapons such as the Energy Knife, and gear like the Reinforced Shield and Sentinel Module, and the Colossus Battlesuit. The update introduces plenty of quality-of-life improvements as well, including:
- New alien base map layouts
- New Cleaner mission types
- New art and models
- A rebalanced economy
- A major overhaul of in-game audio that really brings the action to life
