Manor Lords celebrates over 2.5 million sales with new content update

The best-selling medieval city-building strategy game sells even more, and there’s a new patch to mark the occasion.

September 27, 2024 - Hooded Horse is excited to share that Slavic Magic’s popular medieval strategy game, Manor Lords, has passed another major sales milestone. This comes as the next major content patch - 0.8.004 - leaves beta and rolls out to the main build, alongside a 30% discount on Steam – the best yet!

The patch launches at the same time as the Hooded Horse Publisher Sale, which is now in full swing! Since launching in late April 26, Manor Lords has sold over 2.5 million copies, clearing the first million of those within 48 hours, and clearing 2 million after three weeks. It currently holds an 87% “Very Positive” rating on Steam with over 47,000 reviews

The new update introduces brand-new features, mechanics, and the usual swathe of tweaks and quality-of-life changes, all while upgrading the game engine to Unreal Engine 5. Whether players are excited about the new military unit, the new production options, or are just really jonesing for that Trade Overview screen, there’s something for everyone!

Highlights of patch
0.8.004 include:

  • Unreal Engine 5 update, which will fix several bugs and crashes that were tied to legacy UE4 issues.
  • A Trade Overview panel in the development screen that lists all the previous transactions done by the region.
  • Food spoilage mechanics, where food will now start decaying at varying rates depending on food types. Spoilage can also be influenced by where the food is being stored and certain weather events.
  • Fishing! A new resource node (fishing pond) allows peasants to engage in a new job (fisherman), at a new place of work (Fisherman’s Hut), which will net a new type of food (fish). We hope everyone likes fish.
  • Crossbows can now be created as a new weapon type, allowing players to arm and train their own Militia Crossbowmen. Light Mercenary Crossbow units are also available to hire, including the new ranged mercenary group “The Huntsmen”.
  • A new butcher artisan conversion for Tier 2 and above housing will take surplus sheep and lambs and convert them into meat.
  • Sausages!

There are many, many more tweaks and changes to go with the above, and the full patch notes contain all of the info!

Manor Lords is available in early access for PC via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store for an RRP of $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 / ¥4,980, as well as other regional prices. Please see SteamDB for more information. It’s also available on PC Game Pass (Game Preview).
