Microids and TMS Entertainment Have Signed a Publishing Agreement: A Video Game Adapted From the Iconic Japanese Animation Series Space Adventure Cobra Is in Development!

Paris - March 13th, 2023 - Microids and TMS are pleased to announce that Cobra, the video game, is currently in the pre-production stage. Adapted from the Japanese animation series produced by TMS Entertainment (based on illustrations and comic books created by Buichi Terasawa), the video game provides players the opportunity to step into Cobra’s shoes as the famous galactic bounty hunter, in a futuristic and colourful universe on consoles and PC.
 

Created in 1978, the cult manga Cobra has fascinated many generations of fans with its complex plot known for its many twists and turns. With his legendary Psycho Gun attached to his left arm, and his iconic partnership with Lady, the notorious space pirate Cobra has captivated audiences for decades.
 

According to Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids: "We are extremely excited to work on this adaptation of Space Adventure Cobra, a legendary anime which has inspired a whole generation of fans. We are committed to respecting the universe and characters created by Buichi Terasawa, while providing an immersive gameplay experience, faithful to the spirit of the anime series. About Buichi Terasawa

Buichi Terasawa hails from Asahikawa City, Hokkaido. In his early career, he contributed materials to a magazine that won him a prize, leading him into the world of comics. In 1976, he came to Tokyo and began to study under Osamu Tezuka. During this period, his illustration work entitled "Daichi yo, aoku nare” (Mother Earth, Turn Green Again), was awarded the Tezuka Prize for Outstanding Creative Work. In 1978, his manga “Cobra” was serialized in the Weekly Shonen Jump. In 1985, he kicked off an eight-color comic book series called "BAT". In the ensuing years, he created "TAKERU" (1992), the world's first computer graphics comic book series. Next came "COBRA", "BAT" and "GUNDRAGON SIGMA" (A hybrid comic where the main character was a real photographed model, with everything else digitally drawn). His works include original works, scenarios, directing and video games.  Buichi Terasawa's works are translated and published worldwide and his comic books have sold more than 55 million copies.
