Starcom: Unknown Space, an open-world space ARPG and follow-up to the Indie hit Starcom: Nexus, entered Early Access in December of 2022. Since then, more than 25,000 players have designed their own starships and obsessively explored its mysterious universe.
Early Access, which has developed a somewhat mixed reputation, has turned out to be an unqualified boon for the game, which shot to the top of Steam’s New & Trending within an hour of graduation.
During Early Access, players used the in-game feedback system to give instant feedback and suggestions which allowed them to not only provide in-context comments, but also suggest direction and improvements for features, story, and critically, mission areas where they encountered difficulty. In total, almost 4000 players submitted comments or suggestions.
In response, the game’s programmer and designer, Kevin Lin, posted weekly updates keeping players aware of changes and plans. He credits this tight development loop with players with the very high quality of the current game, which is currently at 92% positive reviews on Steam.

About the Starcom Game Series
The Starcom ® games are developed by Wx3 Labs, LLC, based in Watertown, MA. The first Starcom was released as a Flash game way back in 2009 and immediately established a cult following with over 2 million web plays. Based on player demand, the first stand-alone PC title Starcom: Nexus was released on Steam and GOG in December 2019 and sold well over 60,000 copies. Starcom: Unknown Space entered Early Access in December 2022.
