Games Industry Conference (GIC) 2022 to take place as hybrid-event

The event will return to Poznan from October 6th to 9th and utilize the app GRIP to connect visitors on-site and online

Poznan, Poland, September 22nd, 2022: This year, one of Europe’s important games industry summits Games Industry Conference (GIC) will be organized as a hybrid-style event again, following last year’s successful return to a mostly on-site-event with some online elements for those unable to travel. In 2022, most events will be held on-site with the option of joining the majority of talks and business meetings online. After a fully remote event in 2020, gaming enthusiasts and industry professionals can now look forward to attending Poland’s biggest video games event – and one of the five biggest B2B- and developer conferences in Europe – in person once again. GIC will take place from October 6th to 9th at Poznan International Fair alongside Poznan Gaming Arena (PGA), Poland’s biggest video game consumer event.

This year’s top speakers
Raluca Percec, a Freelance Marketing Consultant with more than 15 years of gamedev experience and Global Marketing Assets Manager at Gameloft, will host a beginner level talk session on marketing art. It is directed at an audience of marketing specialists as well as artists. She will provide general information and elaborate on best practices for creating engaging content. Raluca is also going to reveal some day-to-day-advice for those new to this field of art.

Demetrius Leal is Art Director at Striking Distance Studios and currently working on The Callisto Protocol. He will deliver a talk on the game’s artwork development in context of his studio’s horror engineering framework. Using examples from the game, Demetrius will explain the process from the forming of first ideas to the execution of art assets. As former EA Technical Art Director and Activision CG Supervisor, who has worked on the Dead Space and Call of Duty series as well as Dante’s Inferno, he is a true expert of his trade.

Head of Publishing at Fast Travel Games Patrick Liu hosts an intermediate level talk session on goal setting problems and team misalignment issues in game companies. As former Head of Games at Mojang, Creative Director at Rovio and Senior Producer at Dice, Patrick is experienced in dealing with these challenges at large scale developer studios. He will share his insights from an insider’s point of view and explain how these issues can be overcome.

Lead Graphics Programmer at People Can Fly Peter Sikachev, who has formerly worked on major IPs such as Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2 at CD Projekt Red, will focus on the fluid-based simulation of wind in UE 5. The session will start with an introduction of the theory behind it. Then Peter will point out the most crucial aspects for practical real-time simulation before showcasing his company’s in-house solution for extending and improving the UE 5 graphics engine.
