Null Games To Publish Retro Post-Apocalyptic Western ExeKiller in 2025

Fallout Meets Blade Runner in the first title from Paradark Studio. Become a post-apocalyptic bounty hunter and survive the wastelands of an alternate version of New York!

San Francisco, June 13th, 2023 | Today Null Games announced that it will publish ExeKiller, the first game from Paradark Studio, in 2025. Players control the titular bounty hunter and uncover the mysteries of post-apocalyptic New York in this retro futuristic action-adventure. Take on killer robots, powerful megacorporations, and other dangerous foes with fast talking, quick thinking, and the iron on your hip!

Choice drives the gameplay in ExeKiller. You’re tasked with retrieving the S.O.U.L.S. of your targets - biochips that gather immense amounts of data about their owners…and in some cases, even control them. You’ll have to decide whether to kill, arrest, or set free each of your targets, using a variety of weapons, gadgets, and other tools. Will you try and talk your way past trouble, sneak around it, or just shoot your way through? Any approach is viable in New York 1998!

Explore an open-world as you explore the wastelands of New York, either on foot or in Appaloosa, your hovercar. Dynamic weather, radioactive storms, and roving bandits will impede your mission, but nothing stops an ExeKiller from completing their task.

Chris Wanstrath, founder of Null Games, says, "The first time I saw the ExeKiller trailer, I was blown away. Like a lot of skeptics online, I wasn't even sure if it was real. But after playing an early demo, it's not only real - it's amazing. ExeKiller's mix of retrofuturism, western, and cyberpunk aesthetics blend together perfectly into a world you'll want to explore for hours. The Paradark team has done a fantastic job crafting a unique atmosphere, and I'm really looking forward to playing the finished game and driving around in the hovercar, Appaloosa!"

Key Features

  • Semi-open hub environment with plenty of freedom: Completion of main quests affects the state of the world, allowing the player to gain access to new areas, weapons and options for the storyline.

  • Unique settings and visuals: ExeKiller's world combines retro-futuristic technological advancements with post-apocalyptic scenery - all served with a Western movie aesthetic.

  • Linear narrative with non-linear choices: In each quest, the player has the opportunity to choose their path. Whether the player chooses to spare lives or end them, cheat or obey the law, loot the money or return it intact, these choices will affect how the story plays out.

  • Dialog that matters: ExeKiller’s dynamic dialogue system does not interrupt gameplay - the player retains full freedom of movement and action, making it possible to carry on a conversation while driving or shooting.

  • Choose your own playstyle: Go in with guns blazing, hack through security, talk your way through conflict, or try all of the above!

  • Simplified character progression: ExeKiller does not feature experience points or a leveling system. Instead, all of your progression will come from your choice of mods, augments, and weapon bonuses.
