Wield the power of creation and enjoy untethered creativity: Multiverse Designer just made its demo available as part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest! Multiverse Designer is a 3D virtual tabletop and storytelling tool which allows you to create whatever location you can imagine – as small as a noisy tavern or a dark alleyway; as big as a 64km2 cyberpunk city – and then play your tabletop RPG adventures in it with its online multiplayer features. Featuring also a Cutscene Editor that lets you create cinematic scenes that interact with the players (so it can trigger different cutscenes depending on players’ choices and behavior), and its very own scripting language, allowing players to implement new rules, characters, items, and anything else they can think of, Multiverse Designer is set to become the most powerful virtual tabletop.
Multiverse Designer demo includes full access to the Map Creator and Cutscene Editor, online gameplay with limited D&D-like rules, and two ready-to-play encounters (a fight against a wyvern and another against a group of humanoid monsters). You can download the demo here.
Multiverse Designer gives you the power to create awe-inspiring 3D maps and setpieces for all kinds of tabletop roleplaying games: from high fantasy to gothic horror, Lovecraftian mansions, sci-fi cities or modern streets. Powered by Unreal Engine, this level editor lets you customize everything, from textures and colors to dynamic light sources. You can also populate your creations with animated models of non-playable characters – humanoid creatures or monsters, modern and fantasy vehicles… Your maps can be as big as a sprawling city of 64km2, or as small and detailed as a house full of interactive items. Then you can also design cinematic scenes with the Cutscene Editor. Imagine you’re playing with your friends, exploring a dungeon, when suddenly a wall collapses in front of you, a dragon comes out of it roaring in fury, and destroys the ceiling with its fire breath before flying away!
Multiverse Designer can be used as a virtual tabletop for your gaming sessions, be it as a support tool (just like if you were using a grid-based mat and miniatures… but in amazing 3D!), or have it do the bookkeeping for you with integrated dice and systems to keep track of health, initiative, and much more. But the most powerful feature of Multiverse Designer is Criteria, a scripting language created specifically to design and implement tabletop roleplaying games. Multiverse Designer will release with the rulesets of 5 popular RPGs (and more to come), but Criteria allows players to create their own rules, items, spells, powers… anything they can imagine – and then share it with the world thanks to a full Steam Workshop Integration.
