[Turku, Finland] April 7, 2025 — Cursed Studios, in partnership with the independent publishing platform indie.io, are delighted to announce that Cursed Dawn has launched on Steam on April 7, 2025. In a world without hope or a future, take down hordes of zombies and enact a bloody vengeance, using the very maps against the undead hordes to take a few dozen more before your inevitable death.
Humanity is gone, so is civilization. Nobody's coming to save us. All that's left are a couple of die hard fighters ready to go down fighting: The players. Armed to the teeth with firearms and explosives, from peashooters whose last bullet is best reserved for themselves to high-yield explosives capable of remodeling entire stretches of maps by covering them in zombie blood, guts, and assorted body parts. The only end to the zombie waves comes when the last player is ripped apart by the undead menace and the map is silent once again, except for the guttural growls of what was once humanity.
Gameplay in Cursed Dawn is not limited to merely shooting or blowing zombies up. Each map, from derelict slaughterhouses witnessing a different kind of slaughter, through confined catacombs echoing with gunfire and moans of the dead dying once more, to old prisons, is a puzzle for players to learn, unlock, and harness for their own benefit. Secrets are hidden behind every corner, with walls concealing helpful supplies giving them a brief advantage over the horde, traps harnessing the sophisticated physics model to turn scenery items, explosive items, and even zombies into projectiles (or players, enabling high speed, high risk travel), and entire set pieces requiring a specific set of steps to unlock that ultimately transform the level and its gameplay in unexpected ways.
This element of randomness is a crucial element of Cursed Dawn, with each match being a unique experience for the players. Random enemy spawns mean danger can come from any direction, requiring clever use of the huge arsenal, enemy types force players to think on the fly, while the secrets can turn the tables in an instant - whether it's on the zombies or the survivors depends entirely on the skill and quick thinking of the players.
