8 June 2021, Winston-Salem, USA - In March, the people behind the uplifting game curation community Wholesome Games announced that their flagship showcase would return this summer. The first Wholesome Direct was a surprise hit for the indie community, kicking off the 2020 E3 season with an upbeat presentation that highlighted more than 50 heartwarming indie games. Wholesome Games will take the stage again on June 12 at 10 AM PT (7 PM CET) with a slate of 70+ new and upcoming titles.
Returning viewers can look forward to new game reveals, exclusive footage, and developer interviews from the makers of Ooblets, Paralives, We Are OFK, Moonglow Bay, and many more.
Jenny Windom will return to host the Direct alongside new faces Victoria Tran and Derrick Fields. Windom is a producer at Soft Not Weak, an advisor for Kowloon Nights, and one of six Wholesome Games organizers. Tran is the community director for Innersloth, the studio behind Among Us. Fields, who was inducted into The Game Awards Future Class last year, is a game designer currently working on Onsen Master.
Wholesome Games has partnered with The Yetee to raise funds and awareness for the International Rescue Committee, an organization that responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises and helps refugees survive and rebuild their lives. $5 from every limited-time Wholesome Direct product will benefit the IRC. While wholesome games often show players what a kinder world can look like, the organizers of Wholesome Direct hope that this collaboration with the IRC will remind players to never forget about the real suffering in our world and what we can do to help.
Wholesome Direct 2021 will be a part of the inaugural /twitchgaming gathering, which means this scrappy, volunteer-run event will share the stage with game industry giants like Xbox, Sega, Guerrilla Collective, and Devolver Digital. The premiere will be co-streamed by /twitchgaming, GameSpot, and the Guerilla Collective event page on Steam.
