ASCII TURN-BASED TACTIC TEAM BUILDER DUNGEON TEAM COMES TO STEAM

Travel back to 1980 and explore dungeons, fight powerful monsters and loot treasures like you did when playing Rogue for the first time in this MMO that mixes auto-battler, idle dungeon crawler and turn-based tactics RPG!

The f2p turn-based tactics team builder and MMO Dungeon Team will come back to life on Steam with brand-new features like new game modes, more classes and skills, deeper gameplay and more multiplayer options -- all in the same glorious ASCII art that has been its staple since its debut as a browser game back in 2016! After a long hiatus, Wakefield Studios has announced the return of its cult game, originally released as a browser game, in a reworked version that will be published on Steam later this year. You can check Dungeon Team's trailer below.

In Dungeon Team, you create a group of heroes choosing between 11 different classes and send them forth to explore dangerous dungeons, battle monsters, and loot treasures and gear in a PvE idle dungeon crawler – or fight other players in live turn-based fights or async auto-battles in the PvP arena in teams of 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 heroes. Glory, riches and, more importantly, bragging rights await the victor! Level your team of heroes up 8 mix-and-match skill trees, and equip them with the most powerful gear you can get your hands on until they become the most powerful of the entire ASCII realm.

Dungeon Team will seek funding on Kickstarter in a crowdfunding campaign that will begin very soon; stay tuned for more details about this campaign. You can subscribe to be notified at launch here

ABOUT WAKEFIELD STUDIOS
Wakefield Studios began around 2010 as the pipe dream of an American expat in S. Korea, by the name of Robert Lombardo. In 2013 Wakefield’s first commercial title, the single-player tower defense The Appalese Wall, was sponsored by Age of Games, and debuted at Flash portals like Newgrounds all over the web. From there an async PvP mode was added, plus a (pretty bad attempt at a) cinematic storyline, and in 2014 War of the Shard got sponsored by Kongregate, bringing Wakefield’s work to an even larger audience.
For the next game (this one) Rob’s ambition was to turn this battle-tested game system into a full-on live multiplayer PvP experience. Blitz chess, but with DnD game mechanics too complex for AI ever to win over human intuition. We also added a PvE procedurally-generated dungeon crawl mode, so you can grind out levels in a background tab while pretending to do your job. Stylistically, Wakefield’s work harkens to an era when the internet was run by 56k modems and multiplayer gaming was done over BBSes with ASCII graphics. If, like Rob, you’re old enough to know these terms, have loved & been inspired by games like Exitilus, ADOM, Gemstone 3, etc., then this game is most definitely for you.
