MONTREAL, OCTOBER 22, 2024 - Developer Freehold Games and publisher Kitfox Games revealed today that after 15 years of development, Caves of Qud 1.0 will be released on December 5, 2024, for $29.99 USD on Steam, Itch Io, and GOG!
The game has received hundreds of updates through the years, including a whole interface revamp in 2024 that makes it much more approachable and easy to play. The upcoming promised 1.0 update includes a beginner tutorial to help new players get familiar with the basics of Qud before starting their first playthrough. Also included is the much-anticipated final quest in the main questline, with a mind-blowing ending to the game that matches or exceeds the strange, surprising notes fans have come to expect from Caves of Qud.
Changes to Caves of Qud with the 1.0 Update:
- Tutorial to teach the basics of the game

- Several new music tracks, sound effects, and items
- 40 new achievements
- Lots of bugfixes and small feature improvements

Also available alongside the 1.0 release will be the Dromad Deluxe edition which includes Caves of Qud, the newly enhanced soundtrack, and The Pets of Harvest Dawn DLC pack with in-game companions for your character. The pet DLC includes pets that were once exclusive and only available through supporting the studio’s Patreon while the game was in development and one never-before-seen pet.
