August 24, 2023 - Clanfolk, Hooded Horse and MinMax Games’ historical colony sim set in the Scottish highlands, receives its 12th major update since entering early access, as well as a new historic low sale to mark the passing of the seasons. Haggis, anyone?
Pulling from historical records of 14th-century Scotland, the “Hearth and Home” update will introduce food, recipes, and crops from the period, as well as new buffs from more complicated recipes, such as generating warmth or applying mood bonuses.
The new crops include kale, onions, broad beans, and turnips. Each comes with a new seed variant, which you can now store in the new “Seed Stockpile” or the “Seed Shelf.” In terms of new recipes, the handy “Pluck on a Stick,” arrives as new early-game grub made from harvested organ meat so it doesn’t go to waste. There’s plenty more as well, and the more advanced recipes include the world-famous haggis, which will need cooking in the new cooking pot station – this can make a variety of things and has 13 different visual states.
All this hearty food is joined by new quality-of-life features such as item dragging and the usual round of bug fixes and tweaks. Theres are also 28 new historic clans to encounter, bringing the total number of named clans in the game to 70. You can find out more in the official patch notes.
Last but not least, Clanfolk will be on sale on Steam at a new historic low price, with 25% off the base price from today until September 4 to coincide with Steam Strategy Fest.
