The Backrooms 1998 is now finally released today on Playstation, Xbox, Steam and Nintendo Switch!

Europe, 2024 – Steelkrill Studio and Feardemic has now officially launched The Backrooms 1998 after almost 3 years in early access.

Steelkrill Studio's "The Backrooms 1998," a first-person found footage psychological horror survival game, has officially launched its full release 1.0 today, February 20, 2025. Previously available in Early Access since May 2022, the game is now accessible on multiple platforms, including Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.

In "The Backrooms 1998," players navigate the eerie labyrinth of the Backrooms, aiming to escape while avoiding lurking dangers. A unique feature of the game is its use of microphone input; the in-game entities can detect players' voices and even their breathing, adding an immersive layer of tension.

The Backrooms 1998 won the gold award in the NYX 2023 and came second place in the horror genre here.

The full release 1.0 introduces several enhancements:

• Achievements: The game will have achievements systems on steam.
• Improved Visuals: Enhanced graphics and textures provide a more immersive and unsettling environment.
• Updated Jumpscares: New, more intense scare moments have been added to heighten the horror experience.
