The Outlast Trials Season 3 Debuts with New Trailer: Build Your Own Trials, Evade a New Enemy, & Initiate Project Relapse

Test your limits—and those of your fellow Reagents—with custom-made Trials, avoid a brutal death at the hands of the Jaeger, and undertake a new Trial in a new Trial environment

MONTRÉAL, Québec — April 22, 2025 — Season 3: Project Relapse has arrived in The Outlast Trials, bringing a host of new content — including Trial Maker mode, a fearsome new enemy, a new Prestige system, and more! Now globally available for all players as a free update, Season 3 ends Amelia’s escape attempt and introduces The Jaeger, a merciless hunter designed by Dr. Easterman to torment Reagents for their defiance. A ponderous but punishing killer, the Jaeger is guided by Murkoff via remote radio transmissions and won’t rest until the assigned target is destroyed. As well, a new game mode dubbed the “Trial Maker” will allow players to create and share their own Trials using customized Variators, subjecting their peers to whatever torment they can dream up.

Season 3 also introduces The Relapse Initiative, a prestige system offering Reagents the chance to revert their therapy level for permanent upgrades and rewards of their choosing. Additionally, a Nudity Filter is now available as a toggle, allowing players to hide nudity and sexually explicit content—because sometimes, less is more.

  • The Trial Maker  - “Consider the blood, sweat, and tears that go into creating The Therapy… and experience it for yourself.”

    • Build your own Trial by combining various Trials, MK-Challenges, and custom Variators.

    • Easily share your creations with friends using a unique Trial code allowing you to save them and replay them later.

  • The Jaeger  - “Just as death follows a wasted life, so does the Jaeger follow those it wishes to hold close.”

    • Part 1 will take place from April 22nd to May 6th.

    • Part 2 will take place from May 6th to May 20th.

    • During the event, the Jaeger is permanently present in Trials of the Special Program, and the new variator has also been added to Escalation Therapy and the Trial Maker.

  • The Relapse Initiative -  “The Relapse initiative is a fresh start. Together, we can go deeper.”

    • Reach the new maximum therapy level (99) to access the Relapse Initiative.

  • New Trial & MK-Challenges

    • New Trial: Liquidate the Union

      • We cannot allow the vanity of self-preservation to threaten production.

The Season 3 update also adjusts the progression system to fit the new maximum therapy level (99). Amps are now unlocked as a batch of 3 at different milestones throughout the progression, and Reagents are now rewarded with XP based on their grade, with Performance XP improved and more rewarding based on performance during a Trial.

  • THERAPY RESET: Your therapy level will be reset and all upgrades will be reverted to a locked state.

  • RELAPSE NUMBER: Your relapse number increases after each relapse.
