Wheelchair-bound horror A Wake Inn: Rebooked Announced. Takes VR Immersion Design to the Desktop PC Screens.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

24th of August - Krakow, Poland

A Wake Inn: Rebooked, a first-person narrative horror in which players take the role of a wheelchair-bound mannequin that’s trapped in an art deco hotel filled with an army of living dolls, has just been announced.  Based on the PC VR version of A Wake Inn, the game is now redesigned from the ground up for the PC, but with it’s VR immersion roots still intact. Players will need to find out who they are, why they ended up in the hotel, and who is the mysterious voice that's guiding them along the way. Is it time for the player to take revenge on their maker and set themselves free, or perhaps they’re just a puppet being pulled by its strings?

For the PC version, A Wake Inn: Rebooked will take the design choices that make VR experiences so immersive, and bring some of those design techniques to PC players.

“Horror games rely so much on immersion. To feel terror, you need to believe that you’re in danger. You also need to believe that what’s around you is real.” said Pawel Sikora, Designer at VR Bros. With VR, one way to make players feel more immersed in their surroundings is by making the environment more interactive. If you can touch it, grab it, and use it, it feels like it belongs in the same place as where your mind and senses are. We want to give that environmental freedom to PC players too added Pawel. Players will also need to use a fuller range of movement when interacting with objects. They’ll need to pick them up and place them carefully to where they need to go - no auto-aiming or auto clicking-in to rely on.

“And why a wheelchair you ask? To maximise the feeling of being hounded and vulnerable. Nothing is scarier than having that what you’re used to being taken away from you” said Pawel.

A Wake Inn: Rebooked will also have a new ending, new locations, as well as a redesigned system for sneaking around and fighting. There is no concrete release date set yet. The Polish studio has also released a trailer to go along with the announcement.
