Kingblade Games to release the prologue of the Narrated Comedy ‘Do Not Buy This Game’ for a limited time in the Steam Summer Festival (June 16-22). The game itself revolves around the decision of the player to buy the game, even though the narrator definitely tried to warn them about this choice. The demo (which is a prologue) will explore ‘what happened before the player bought the game’, and will not spoil anything from the game since it’s a standalone experience.
Do Not Buy This Game has started development after a very well known cycle a lot of indie developers go through. You create a game that you love but is too big for you to handle, and after investing a lot of time and effort you realize you have to push it to the side and move on to a different project.
“I just owed it to myself to create something that I’ll be proud to put out there”, said Roee Amar the creator of Do Not Buy This Game, “I had to break the cycle. And then a weird idea popped into my head”.
Roee then describes how he thought about creating a game using the said title, and that the actual game would “be built while the player is playing it”.
“A lot of people compare the game to The Stanley Parable and The Beginner’s Guide, which is very flattering! They do capture a similar vibe, and I believe if you liked them you’ll also enjoy my game. I poured all of my struggles and humor into this game, and I hope it will resonate with players”.
