On July 14th, 2023, HoYoverse's popular virtual actress, Lumi, hosted a midsummer performance in her third livestream event. During the stream, Lumi showcased an all-new look, bringing HoYoverse fans a dynamic performance and fantastic interactions spanning multiple IPs. Aptly titled "Summertime Is Here to Stay!" the livestream performance surprised viewers with Lumi's first-ever appearance wearing short hair. With the support of powerful simulation technology, Lumi's soft and fluffy hair flowed smoothly and naturally with her movements. Her facial expressions and muscle movements were also completely overhauled, bringing a fresh look and feel to the viewers while also making her every move seem even more sweet and cute. With HoYoverse's advances in real-time simulation and rendering technology, Lumi was also able to wear a more diverse selection of outfit styles this time. The black and red outfit with long sleeves and a short skirt that she sported for her final dance of the stream was especially dazzling. Lumi fired up the viewers while also presenting a truly exciting performance.
Continuing her streak of highly acclaimed interactive performances, Lumi brought viewers to some brand-new environments this time. The stream took viewers to a sunny beach and a fairy tale world, before finally finishing on a dazzling neon stage. The meticulously detailed scenery and objects delivered a fully immersive experience. Perhaps one of the biggest surprises for fans was to see Lumi imitate characters from different IPs, including HOMU, Nynii-chan from Guns GirlZ, Kiana from Honkai Impact 3rd, Hu Tao from Genshin Impact, Bailu from Honkai: Star Rail, The Baldr Trio from Tears of Themis, and even a Bangboo from Zenless Zone Zero. This was truly the "ultimate crossover" performance for HoYoverse fans. Using a fun and clever setting of trying to repair a "terminal," the audience got to enjoy an interactive livestream experience with Lumi. By casting votes in real-time, viewers could not only trigger Lumi to change outfits on the fly, but also play musical notes by entering on-screen comments. To top it all off, a special "integrated comment command" allowed viewers to interact with Lumi and cause an animation effect where they "invaded" Lumi's world.
As HoYoverse's livestream technology continues to advance, Lumi's performances will also continue to push the limits and achieve milestones in every aspect. The team will continue building on the art style, striving to present richer performance content and real-time interactions. In the future, the technical team will always be iterating on inspired concepts and working to improve Lumi and her supporting technologies, allowing them to create brand-new performances for viewers to enjoy and bring content creators better technical solutions.
