Greenville, South Carolina—October 14, 2024—Hybrid Fiction Games today launched their Kickstarter Campaign and demo for their first game, Stratagem Lost.
Stratagem Lost is a turn-based strategy RPG and visual novel hybrid with a punk fantasy aesthetic set in a world left broken and paranoid from war. It is a single-player indie game currently being developed for PC.

About the Kickstarter
A 30-day Kickstarter campaign started today, October 14th, 2024, to fund the game’s development. A demo has also been released at Steam Next Fest so that players can try the game before supporting it.
The game’s base funding goal has been set at $18,000. Additional stretch goals include dedicated mod support, a color palette creator, and a roguelike mode. Furthermore, goals for the number of social media followers and Kickstarter backers are present, with rewards like additional modes, extra scenes, and New Game+.
Backers can purchase the game and play its beta builds before its projected release of Q4 2026. In addition, backers can receive rewards like the game’s digital artbook and soundtrack, physical prints, and access to community polls within the game’s official Discord. Dedicated backers will also be able to help form aspects of the game, like designing assistant characters for players to bolster their units with, developing enemies, and other creative features.
Early backers can also support the Kickstarter and receive the game for a discounted price!
Hybrid Fiction Games recently celebrated hitting 1,000 wishlists on Steam within one month of the game’s announcement! The game is also making an appearance at Steam Next Fest, which also starts today.
About the Game
The story follows a group of drafted soldiers uncovering a dark mystery as they come to blows with terrorists and otherworldly entities. Gameplay has a focus on unique characters and teambuilding, creating an experience that forces players to make tough decisions both in and out of combat.
Compared to other games in the genre, Stratagem Lost’s identity is found in its eclectic, over-the-top attitude. Gameplay is aggressive and dynamic, characters have strong and belligerent personalities—the game as a whole sports an outspoken demeanor, inspired by art movements like Dadaism and pop art, as well as music genres like alternative rock and nu-metal.
Stratagem Lost features expressionist, vibrant illustrations during cutscenes and combat. Battles play out with a punchy style, like they’re snapshots out of a comic book. Characters express themselves firmly, with each pose accentuating personality and individuality.
Between battles, the player can spend more time with their allies and learn more about them in Off-Time Segments. These segments offer insight into the characters’ individual stories and the world around them while also unlocking new skills in combat. Build up your relationships off of the battlefield and see your options increase on it.
Stratagem Lost features professional voice actors from the industry, including Amanda Hufford (The Amazing Digital Circus, Genshin Impact), Joshua Waters (Fire Emblem Heroes, Unicorn Overlord), and Allanah Fitzgerald (Murder Drones).
The music in the game is composed by dante gofar, known for his work in AD: Trance, Paper Perjury, and UNBEATABLE [white label]. Stratagem Lost boasts a hard rock soundtrack, enhancing the experience with a heavy groove.
