More than a dozen game publishers came together during December’s Maui Strong Sale and raised over $50,000 for the Maui Strong Fund, which supports recovery efforts for the communities affected by the devastating wildfires that occurred in Maui in last summer.
The Maui Strong Sale was led by KOMODO, an international games publisher based in Honolulu and Tokyo, and the licensed provider of Steam Deck in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Offered over Steam, other participating publishers included Capcom, Spike Chunsoft, mino_dev, City Connection, SNK, Taito, DANGEN Entertainment, Gotcha Gotcha Games, Freebird Games, PsychoFlux Entertainment, and more.
“When we decided to hold the Maui Strong Sale, our aim was to help and support the people and the community in Maui who have been terribly impacted by the wildfires,“ said Ricky Uy, CEO of KOMODO. “We hope these funds can help do exactly that. We are extremely thankful to both gamers and to the publishers and developers who supported this project.”
Each of the participating publishers allocated a portion of their choosing from their sales revenue to be donated to the fund. Each publisher’s contribution to the $50,000+ total was donated to the Hawai’i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund and will be used for recovery efforts on Maui.
The Maui Strong Fund provides financial resources to support the immediate and long-term recovery needs for the people and places affected by the devastating Maui wildfires.
“Thanks to the quick and generous response from donors like you, we are able to rapidly deploy grants to community organizations that are on the front lines of emergency response efforts, providing much-needed assistance to families, individuals, and communities that have been affected by the wildfires,” said Micah A. Kāne, CEO and President of the Hawai’i Community Foundation “We are committed to ensuring that every dollar of your donation is used efficiently and effectively to make a real difference in the lives of those affected.”
KOMODO, also based in Honolulu, Hawai’i, will continue to seek ways to stand by and support the people of Maui.
