Limassol, Cyprus (March 3, 2025) | Today, ESDigital Games and Courtesy of Endo are proud to announce the official 1.0 launch of Scholar of the Arcane Arts, a roguelike action RPG where you play as a wizard who must use the knowledge and power of the arcane arts to defeat daunting invaders from the five planes of magic— available on Steam March 11, 2025.
As a scholar, your goal is to collect and combine spells— and to do this, you must travel through the five planes of magic, learning new spells and fusing them in over 10,000 different combinations to become stronger. Find the scrolls of magic, solve puzzles, unlock secret dungeons full of ancient mysteries, and defeat the invaders before they destroy your realm – and you along with it!
Developer Stephen Sanchez, the one-man team at Courtesy of Endo, documented his game development process in a series of YouTube videos and has been listening closely to player feedback to improve and build upon Scholar of the Arcane Arts since development began in 2021. "If you would have told 10-year-old me that I'd be launching a video game, I would have said, 'What took you so long?'” said Sanchez. “In all seriousness, this is a dream come true, and I want to thank all the Scholars who have supported me along the way. Let's combine some spells!"
About Scholar of the Arcane Arts
Scholar of the Arcane Arts is a roguelike action RPG inspired by titles such as Magicka and Serious Sam Tormental, where you play the role of a wizard charged with protecting the world from the monstrosities that exist in the five different planes of magic hell-bent on destroying the world.
Explore the procedurally-generated realms of magic, where you will find and upgrade various spells, mixing them into even more powerful combinations to take on the hordes of enemies and the terrifying demigods that rule these dangerous planes. With over 10,000 spell combinations, take advantage of the right spell at each moment to counter, disable, and deal massive damage to your foes.

1.0 Launch Key Features
- Spell rebalancing: Fireball can now combine with other spells; Bubbler can be cast while moving; Seren’s Falling Star requires half as many spell hits to change form; Decaying Touch will always poison; Tar’s Rock cooldown has been reduced; and Solaris absorbs more spells per level.
- Less floors, quicker gameplay: Each domain has been reduced from 3 floors to 2 floors. This significantly reduces the time it takes to complete each run ~ 1.5 hours to ~ 40 minutes.
- Bigger damage, bigger numbers: Damage numbers increase in size in relation to how much damage you’re doing
- Additional updates: Vera’s Shop now displays current monster levels, and the Sky Castle puzzle can now be completed with walls.
