2024 Game Devs of Color Expo Concludes; Awards $15,000 Across Three Grants and Launches New Job Board

Ninth annual celebration of creators of color saw more than 1,200 attendees across hybrid event

NEW YORK – September 23, 2024 – The ninth annual Game Devs of Color Expo concluded over the weekend, wrapping up four days of discussions, panels, interviews, and game announcements from creators of color from around the world. At the end of the event, three independent game developers received the Game Devs of Color Grant of $5,000 each, sponsored by No More Robots. 

 

The three grant recipients include:
 

  • Victory Duru - The InBetween (VCD)

  • Farfama Hargaaya - TO:RI (Farfama)

  • Blas David Castañeda Martinez - The end is nahual: If I may say so (Third World Productions)


Additionally, the 2023 grant awarded to Daniel Lowe for Parkour Legends (Enter Grip) has been enhanced by the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment into a Made in NY Grant.

 

The 2024 Game Devs of Color Expo, organized by 501(c)(3) nonprofit Game Devs of Color, saw more than 1,200 attendees across its main virtual conference and new in-person watch parties in Los Angeles, New York, and Bellevue. The Game Devs of Color Expo Direct, which premiered on September 18, revealed 33 new game trailers. An archive of the Direct can be viewed on the Game Devs of Color Expo YouTube channel. All of the games featured can be purchased or wishlisted on the Game Devs of Color Expo Steam Sale.


Game Devs of Color also launched its new jobs board at gamedevsofcolorexpo.com/jobs.
