Coffee Talk Tokyo is brewing for a 2025 release!

The acclaimed Coffee Talk series returns in a new city with all-new characters

VANCOUVER, Canada — August 27 2024 —  Coffee Talk Tokyo, the follow-up to 2020’s Coffee Talk and 2023’s Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly, opens its doors to fans everywhere on PC via Steam, PlayStation®5, Xbox One (X|S Compatible) and Nintendo Switch™ in 2025.

As revealed today during Nintendo's Indie World showcase, Coffee Talk Tokyo is the next installment of the much-loved Coffee Talk series of visual novel games, set in an alternate near-future where humans and fantastical people come together. The player takes on the role of the mysterious barista, there to lend a sympathetic ear, give gentle words of advice, and serve a selection of delicious hand-crafted warm drinks.

Coffee Talk Tokyo takes the player to an all-new - but strangely familiar - all-night coffee shop, this time in a Tokyo backstreet. With a cast of new characters (and one or two familiar faces), Coffee Talk Tokyo will introduce fans to new themes and storylines.

Once again taking on the role of Barista, the player will take drink orders from customers like Kenji, a traditional kappa salaryman facing a life of retirement, Vin, the Barista’s assistant struggling with the daily consequences of a past catastrophe, and Ayame, a spunky ghost trying to move on with her (after)life.

As well as the new customers, Coffee Talk Tokyo will feature a new lofi soundtrack composed once again by Andrew “AJ” Jeremy, the composer on both previous Coffee Talk games. Also returning from previous Coffee Talk games are Anna Winterstein, the co-writer of Coffee Talk: Hibiscus and Butterfly, and Kimitaka Ogawa, the Japanese translator of both original Coffee Talk games, now joining the writing team. Additionally, players will be able to take their latte art to a new level with the addition of sprinkle stencils and catch up with some familiar characters in the upgraded Tomodachill in-game social media app.

“We’re thrilled to be able to continue laughing and crying in the Coffee Talk world with Coffee Talk Tokyo”, said Shintaro Kanaoya, CEO of Chorus Worldwide. “Coffee Talk and Coffee Talk Episode 2 have delighted fans around the world and having the opportunity to give them a new take on the series is something we’re taking very seriously. We can’t wait for players to set foot in the new café and meet an all-new cast of characters.”
