22nd Oct 2024 - Solo developer Lukas Irzl invites players to embark on a dark, perilous journey through the open world of Grenmark in Pale Coins – a fantasy action RPG that blends classic RPG elements with challenging Souls-like combat. In Pale Coins, players create their own character before venturing off into the wilderness, wielding nothing but a rusty old weapon as they kill, loot, and explore their way through the lands in pursuit of the legendary champion’s coin.
The world of Grenmark is stunning due to its handcrafted vibrant pixel art and fantasy theme. Players must journey across a variety of treacherous environments such as forests, ruins, mountains, and gloomy caverns. Grenmark is filled with mysteries to uncover and dangers that lurk around every corner - so players will need to remain vigilant.
Despite still being in development, there’s already an extensive combat system in Pale Coins with plenty of enemies to face. In addition to the traditional enemy types like goblins, orcs, and skeletons; expect difficult boss encounters that are sure to test your skill. To help fend off the waves of enemies, players can equip a plethora of equipment, each with their own attributes and gameplay feel. Additionally, players may encounter gear with unique skills attached. While worn, these rare pieces of equipment allow players to cast magic spells, utilize new movement abilities, summon minions, and much more.
Fortunately, players won't be entirely alone on their adventures as Grenmark is populated with colorful NPCs, each with their own stories and quests. Some may offer rewards, while others might guide you through branching storylines filled with tough moral choices. With this in mind, each encounter can shape the player's journey in unexpected ways, creating a rich and immersive world filled with memorable moments.
