New Menace Slithers into the Caves of Despair!

The Larvae Brings Acidic Chaos to Dungeons

Prepare to adapt, adventurers, in The Book of Aaru, a thrilling roguelite action experience!

A new threat has burrowed its way into the depths of Dungeon II: the Larvae, also known as the Caterpillar, has arrived! These creatures, once simple borers, have evolved into a dangerous foe capable of reshaping the very battlefield in this unique isometric adventure.

Lore and Behavior
The Larvae were once humble creatures, slowly etching their way through stone with acidic secretions. Now, they've become a hazardous presence in the Caves of Despair. While relatively weak in terms of health, their offensive capabilities are not to be underestimated in this fusion of Egypt and sci-fi.

Key Features

  • Environmental Hazard: The Larvae's primary attack involves launching a projectile of acidic venom. This leaves a trail of hazardous goo that lingers for 15 seconds, creating dynamic and ever-changing combat zones. This adds to the traps and challenges of the procedurally generated dungeons that are a core part of the game. No two encounters will ever be the same!

  • Explosive Demise: When near death, the Larvae undergoes a violent transformation. Its insides seem to turn inside out, causing it to convulse and roll erratically before exploding. This adds a strategic layer to combat: do you eliminate it from afar, or risk a close-quarters detonation, and use your dual-wielding and combo attacks?

Tactical Considerations
Unlike its robotic companions, the Mechanical Beetle and the Furious Hornet, the Larvae's explosive death may make it a priority to eliminate last. Consider your positioning and weapon choices carefully, as a well-timed detonation can turn the tide of battle.
