Surreal Card RPG Out of Hands Now Available on Steam 

APRIL 22, 2025 - Game River is proud to announce Out of Hands, an innovative psychological card RPG developed by acclaimed game producer Yang Zeyu. This deeply personal project marks Yang's first solo development effort and represents a bold new direction for the studio.

Out of Hands immerses players in a haunting dreamscape where they assume the role of a protagonist grappling with profound loss. Following the death of a loved one, players must navigate a nightmarish world where reality, memory, and emotion blur together in unsettling ways.

At the core of the gameplay experience are three distinct mental states that influence every decision. Players' choices will guide them toward truth, delusion, or something far more sinister lurking in the depths of the subconscious mind.



 

Game Overview 

A Strange and Eerie Card RPG

Out of Hands consists of four bizarre nightmares for players to explore. Dive deep into these realms, revisit once-familiar memories, and confront nightmarish entities born from negative emotions.

The game features a complete storyline, carefully crafted side quests, and map exploration. While enjoying the strategic thrill of card-based battles, players will also experience the RPG progression of growing stronger by overcoming enemies. Your exploration progress and narrative choices will shape the game's ultimate ending.

Evolving Deck-Building System

During card-based combat, players must strategically use their custom decks within a limited number of actions to counter incoming enemy attacks. At the same time, they must find opportunities to strike at the enemy's core to achieve victory.

Beyond cards, players can also use the Face System to equip different eyes and mouths, each providing a passive ability and an active ability. These enhancements directly impact battles and, when combined with your deck, create synergies far greater than the sum of their 

A Surreal Style That Blurs Reality

Out of Hands incorporates a vast number of real-life photographs as game assets, including the "hands" mentioned in the title, as well as miniature model scenes and real-world images. These elements blend seamlessly with hand-drawn level designs, reinforcing the game's surreal narrative—teetering between illusion and reality, trapped within a dream.

Update Roadmap

- May – Language Support

- Localization support for German, French, and Korean is scheduled for release in May.

- June – New Game Mode: A new mode, tentatively named Arcade Mode, is planned for release in June.
In this mode, players will experience:

• Highly randomized and progressive card builds
• Fiercer enemies
• New cursed mechanics and intense battle rules
