Serenity Forge Acquires Lifeless Planet Franchise, Studio Founder Joins Team

Today Denver game developer & publisher Serenity Forge announced the acquisition of the cult classic adventure titles Lifeless Planet and Lifeless Moon, complementing their powerhouse game lineup (Doki Doki Literature Club Plus, Slay the Princess - The Pristine Cut). In addition, the Lifeless franchise developer David "Aelyn" Board will be joining Serenity Forge in a creative role to bring new projects forward. They will also help Serenity Forge expand into new, non-profit ventures focused on education, building on their expertise in developing digital experiences for the US Department of Education and major science centers.

"A decade ago when we were just college kids making indie games, Aelyn, who didn't even know us, decided to reach out and generously pay for our Indie Megabooth activation, which made it possible for us to show our game at PAX," said Zhenghua Yang, CEO & Founder of Serenity Forge. "It was the first time we were able to attend the show, and shortly after, we worked with them on the Lifeless Planet release, which eventually resulted in us 'accidentally' becoming a publisher. Now that we’ve officially joined forces, Aelyn will be working on some existing secret projects we have in development. Serenity Forge wouldn’t be the success we are today without Aelyn’s decade of support and trust, we’re so excited to officially have Aelyn be part of our core team!”

"I'm so excited to be a part of the Serenity Forge team with their reputation for building meaningful and impactful games," said Aelyn. "From day one I've admired their work and I deeply share their passion for digital experiences that educate and inspire audiences with truly creative, richly diverse—and ultimately—very human stories."

Serenity Forge previously published Lifeless Planet, which reached 10 million players over its lifetime, and the follow-up, Lifeless Moon.
