SAN DIEGO - JUNE 9, 2021 - Scarlet Moon Records is pleased to present METAGAME (Original Soundtrack) by composers Garrett Williamson, Jesse Beauchamp, Melo, and LORD DINOSAUR. The score accompanies an eight-part documentary series following five Super Smash Bros. Melee players as they duke it out to become the world champion. Nostalgia is a key factor throughout the soundtrack, incorporating orchestral and electronic sounds to capture all the excitement with game-flavored tunes. "I was a huge fan of the 2013 documentary The Smash Brothers and when people asked creator and producer, Travis Beauchamp, about his musical choices on the project, he stated that none of it was specifically composed for the documentary," reflects METAGAME lead composer Garrett Williamson. "When I learned he was beginning production on a follow-up, I knew it was my in. Many feature films and videogames implement music in the final stages of production, but Travis and I collaborated from nearly the beginning, working in tandem to get the music working with the edit and sometimes adjusting the edit to more closely match the music. The direction of the documentary took many drastic turns over the course of six years, and as a result the music did too. Therefore, I have featured a couple unused pieces that didn't make the final cut. I am beyond proud of what Travis created and incredibly honored to have been a part of such an awesome project!"
