The demo for the upcoming indie RPG, Silver Daze, releases this Saturday, August 10th. Silver Daze is a coming-of-age JRPG where you collect cards and battle monsters in a desolate frozen world. It is the third game created by Sawyer Friend, the creator of both Axial games, and the demo will be available on Steam as well as a playable browser build on Itch.io. The demo features the first chapters of the game up to the climactic encounter with Nyx, spanning roughly 90 minutes of gameplay. There is no embargo on the Demo’s release date.
Silver Daze tells the story of the teenager Pinn as he finds his life slowly falling apart during the transition to adulthood, until the world suddenly becomes halted in stasis. Through the course of the demo, the player will guide Pinn through the frozen world as he reunites with his friends and defeats monsters in order to obtain stronger cards. The game features deep customizable turn-based combat and an enthralling character-centric narrative, with a surprising plot development at the end of the demo which will set up for bigger story beats in the full game.
The lead developer, Sawyer Friend, has been workshopping the concept of this game since 2018, but wanted to wait until the conclusion of the Axial story to begin developing the title proper. After a year of relative silence on new projects, Silver Daze was announced on June 24th. On social media, Sawyer Friend had the following to say: “It's so incredible seeing people playing my games again after a year or so since my last project! Thank you to everyone who's been playing Axial and Silver Daze!”
